In memory of Daniel Police
Daniel Police was one of us: a passionate lover of churches who travelled the roads of western and central France to photograph and describe the wall paintings of their Romanesque churches.
Over the years he gathered more than two hundred and fifty churches and chapels on his personal web pages, together with an essay on painting techniques and pigments and an illustrated dictionary of Romanesque architecture, in French and English, so that this heritage could be shared with everyone.
This site presents his work again with respect: the words and photographs are his; only the presentation has changed.
