Eglise Sainte-Gemme
The church dedicated to Saint Gemme (from Latin "Gemma", a precious stone: , virgin who lived as a recluse near Sulmone, in Italy, celebrated on My 13), consists of an aisleless nave and a single south transept.

PEINTURE MURALE
In a recess, a fresco drawn in outline and dating to the 13th or 14th century, represents the Virgin and Child. In her right hand, the Virgin is holding an apple (some claim it is a host) and the Child Christ is holding a smaller apple. (or host) The apple could be seen, on one level, as a toy for the Child, Jesus, but it certainly has a deeper theological meaning. It recalls the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden with the apple symbolising their fall from grace. Mary, holding the apple, is represented as the new Eve co-operating in the work of our Redemption with her son Jesus, the new Adam.
