Laigné-en-Belin
The chapel, built in a small bond of "roussard" sandstone, dates back to the 11thand 12thcenturies. It is a rectangle about 35 feet long whose nave is pierced with four narrow, round-arched windows. The window of the chevet has been walled up. The gable is surmounted by a wall belfry crowned with a cross of tufa stone. Its wide, round-arched opening houses a small bell.
The nave is covered with a wooden vault adorned with the monograms of Christ and the Virgin Mary, as well as hearts, fleurs-de-lis and leopards. An inscription indicates the date of its construction and the name of the donor. It reads (see the French above): "Monsieur Chevalier, priest, vicar of Laigné gave the wainscot and paintings of this chapel in honour of God, the Virgin and Saint Anne in 1623.
