ROCHECORBON (Indre-et-Loire)
SAINT-GEORGE'S CHAPEL
The parish church of the village of Saint-Georges until 1808, when Saint-Georges merged with Rochecorbon, the chapel of Saint-George was erected in the 11thcentury and underwent some alterations in the 12thcentury. The present lateral door was pierced in the southern wall in the 18th century when the original porch was walled up
Behind the choir, a 13th-century stained-glass window representing an angel and a king in the upper register and a scen from the story of Melchisedech and Abram in the lower register.
The wall paintings
On the northern wall, the first painting (on the left) dates back to the 12th century and represents the Washing of the Disciples' Feet. On the right, a very colourful depiction of the Last Supper dating back to the 13th century
