The theme of Auvers-sous-Montfaucon's mural painting is relatively rare and the painting is rather well preserved. It represents suffering humanity helping Christ to bear his cross. It covers the entire length of the southern arm of the transept. It was inspired by a poetic text written by King René of Anjou, itself infuenced by a book by Canon Urseau. These scene was represented in the region of Angers in the 15th and 16th centuries.
