Lunay

Loir-et-Cher (41)

Although some parts (the north wall of the nave, for example) date back to the 11th or 12th century, the church has undergone major alterations over the centuries. The apse was added in the 14th century, while the nave was enlarged and pierced with large Gothic windows in the 15th century. The stump of the tower is Romanesque, but the stone spire is more recent. The panelled vault of the nave with its carved tie-beams is a 19th-century addition.

Mural paintings:

The walls of the nave may have been completely covered with paintings as a recently uncovered row of faces all looking in the same direction seems to suggest.

The other mural paintings are in a very bad state of repair and hardly legible.
