Église Saint-DenisMaine-et-Loire (49)

The church of Saint Denis in Pontigné and its spiral spire is famous for its mural paintings dating back to the late 13thcentury. The nave and transept are from the 12th century. The frescoes adorn the two apsidioles of the transept. The square choir is in the Plantagenet style with a vault crisscrossed with a web of ribs. The capitals are also remarkable with their polychrome monsters and grotesque figures
