BANNES (MAYENNE): SAINT-JEAN-BAPTISTE'S CHURCH
The church of Bannes is one of the very few 11th-century Romanesque churches in the region that has not undergone any major alteration and is still surrounded by its churchyard. It is a kind of time capsule. It is in the shape of a Latin cross and the choir is not lined up with the the nave. The crossing is surmounted by a tower pierced with Romanesque windiws and covered with a saddle-roof
