Église Saint-LubinSarthe (72)

Coulongé, Église Saint-Lubin

The church dates back to the 12th century. Its unvaulted nave is prolonged by a chancel surmounted by a dome on pendentives and a semi-circular half-domed apse. The southern chapel is a later addition. The outside walls are faced with blocks of "tuffeau" limestone resting on two courses of sandstone.

The masonry of the chevet walls seems more archaic than the one of the nave with its two courses of small roussard stones.
