Saint-Denis-d'Anjou

Mayenne (53)

(MAYENNE)

The nave and the tower of the church were built in the 12th century but the side-aisle and the transept were rebuilt in the 16th century

The mural paintings are remarkable. Most of them date back to the 16th century. The most interesting of them is probably the Decollation of the Baptist and the Presentation of his head to Herod during a banquet.
