he church has preserved its Romanesque west façade but the rest has been significantly altered

Léger (the final "r" is sounded) was born in 616 at Poitiers. He was bishop of Autun in 663, adviser to queen Bathilda during the minority of Clothaire III, king of Neustria from 656 to 670. In 660, when the king died, he called Childeric II, king of Austrasia, to the throne of Neustria. He had his rival Ebroin, mayor of the Palace of Neustria, imprisoned. When Childeric died in 675, Ebroin was released and the feud resumed. Ebroin besieged Autun ans St Léger gave himself up to save the town. Ebroin ordered his eyes were to be gouged out and his tongue severed. He was then interned in a convent at Fécamp and eventually beheaded at Arras in 679. He is the patron saint of millers. Celebrated on 2 October.

17th-century oil representing Christ saying: "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: *** - The scenes in the background illustrate charitable works: assisting the poor, the sick and the dying
