Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-RocherMayenne (53)

Notre-Dame-du-Rocher is the former Ronanesque chapel of the castle. It was built between the 11th and the 13th century. On June 15, 1589, Louis Hurault, Commander of the Fortress, was killed by Charles du Bellay, a member of the Catholic "Sainte-Ligue". During the "Terror", between november 1793 and july 1794, the chapel was used as a revolutionary tribunal, then became the parish church from 1801 until 1862. It is now used as a multi-purpose hall by the town of Lassay.
